Publicizing an Expert
Excerpt From an interview with our client, Barry Cross,
for an online article by the Rebecca R. Hastings, SPHR,
an online editor/manager for SHRM
about the elimination of the "n" word in the new
edition of Mark Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
|
...Diversity
experts were asked to comment on the change...
Barry
Cross, Jr., president and CEO of Elsie Y. Cross and Associates,
Inc., a diversity consulting firm, said he had a mixed
reaction when he heard about the new version of Twain's
work. Like Ford, he was disappointed that "the politically
correct environment" leads people to "sanitize
everything." The problem with sanitizing, he told
SHRM Online, is that "generations that come after
us won't understand why these words are offensive."
