"Glasstress"  - The Boca Museum    -   Boca Raton
January 31 to July 2, 2017

The sculpture glitters and glows; it amazes and confounds.  It's all made of glass--three pieces shown above--which is one reason it hypnotizes  viewers strolling the exhibition. They are part of an initiative by the Fondazione Berengo to encourage the use of glass as artwork, not simply decoration.  The Boca Museum, Boca Raton, January 31 to July 2  --  bocamuseum.org 561-392-2500

See below for names of artists and pieces--all on display in various venues in Palm Beach as explained below....(Sophie Ryder piece in center is sample, not necessarily in the show.)

Lost Bird Project -- Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens - WPB
January 12 to June 28

PicturePassenger Pigeon, Todd McGrain, Grange Insurance Audubon Center, Columbus, Ohio
Five large bronze birds--now extinct--are perched in the main lawn of the historical West Palm Beach landmark home, studio, and gardens of sculptor Ann Norton. These majestic creatures intrigue all visitors and were created by Todd McGrain for "The Lost Bird Project." January 12 through June 28. ansg.org , 561-832-5328 [This edition of the passenger pigeon stature is not in the show.]

RAW Winner Svenja Deininger --The Norton  - WPB
February 4 to April 16, 2017

PictureSvenja Deininger, Untitled, 2014, oil on canvas
The work of abstract painter Svenja Deininger conveys a powerful sense of calmness with complexity. It is this intriguing quality that makes her exhibition entitled Second Chances, First Impressions, so intriguing. Deininger is the sixth artist to be awarded the Norton's RAW (Recognition of Art by Women) award for women artists. The Photographic Center, West Palm Beach, workshop.org , 561-253-2600

"Pen to Paper" Artists' Handwriting - The Norton Museum
April 18 to July 2

    Dear  Art Lover:
       Welcome back!
The pandemic shocked and slowed down the art world for many months. But now, artists, museums and galleries have adapted. They are providing new ways for you to enjoy the work of your favorite classic or new artists...and keep on top of cultural trends and developments.
Here in Palm Beach County art venues from the Norton and Boca Raton Museums to the Art Warehouse in Delray Beach have reopened--with new exhibitions and socially distanced, masked viewing opportunities
For those of your still reluctant to venture out (until you have your COVID-19 "shots")--the digital world will enable you to enjoy elements of the collections and exhibitions of prestigious institutions such as the Fricke, as well as opportunities to join docents on art tours from France to China.
So, I'm back again! To let you know what I consider "the best" of all these opportunities. Keep an eye on my blog to enhance your art-viewing pleasure!
